“From Challenges to Triumphs: The Inspiring Story of a Special Needs Canine and the Love That Helped Him Overcome”

Sasha, an exceptional puppy, accomplished a significant milestone on November 28th. This adorable pup celebrated her 12th week of life with enthusiasm and delight.

It’s common for most puppies to turn three months old without any fuss. However, Sasha’s experience has been anything but ordinary. Sasha, who was born with hydrocephalus, cleft lip, and cleft palate, cherishes every day as a precious gift.

Ever since Sasha was a puppy, she has been lovingly cared for by Marie DeMarco, a rescuer who specializes in helping cats with special needs. Marie’s organization, FURRR 911, is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and finding homes for felines that require extra attention, including orphaned kittens and cats that are sick, injured, or have disabilities. Marie affectionately calls these animals “perfectly imperfect” and when she met Sasha, she knew that this sweet dog would fit right in with her furry family.

According to DeMarco’s Facebook post, the young girl under her care has always been resilient and has overcome various challenges despite her young age. As her foster mother, DeMarco admits to feeling anxious and losing sleep over her well-being, but all of that fades away when she looks into the eyes of the child.

At present, the small puppy weighs a little over two pounds, which is quite an achievement given her recent illness. Puppies born with cleft palates often suffer from upper respiratory infections, and Sasha was no exception. She went through a difficult phase characterized by symptoms such as fever, nasal congestion, vomiting, an infected eye, and weight loss.

Sasha, a tiny pup, couldn’t afford to lose any more weight as she was already just over a pound. DeMarco, her caretaker, was growing increasingly concerned as Sasha remained weak and unresponsive despite being given antibiotics. Although her temperature was stable, Sasha lacked energy and was unsteady on her feet, with no appetite. This worried DeMarco greatly, ultimately leading her to take Sasha to a neurologist for further examination.

The lady expressed that Sasha is a calm and introverted pup unlike the usual ones. She added that the puppy likes to rest beside her or even on her feet.

With the help of a specialist’s advice and a consistent daily routine of medications, fluid therapy, and tube feedings, Sasha showed a gradual improvement in her health condition. After 12 weeks, she had fully recovered her playful and affectionate personality. DeMarco praised Sasha for her resilience and determination to survive despite her congenital deformities and medical issues. Sasha proved to be an inspiration to many.

Sasha’s journey was a tough one with no clear outcome, but she had a lot of love, commitment, and encouragement surrounding her. Despite her physical abnormalities and medical issues, Sasha was a fighter with an unbreakable spirit. Unfortunately, Sasha passed away in March 2018, just after celebrating her six-month birthday. In her brief time on earth, she brought happiness and affection to all her human, feline, and canine companions.
